Welcome to the British Embassy of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. We are a small team here but a busy one! Our key tasks include:

• Looking out for the 40,000 British travellers who visit this region every year.
• Encouraging the protection of human rights - for example, supporting the work of the UN International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG).
• Helping to strengthen good relations between Belize and Guatemala as they move towards eventual peaceful border demarcation.
• Working with the region’s Governments, civil society, tourism industry and businesses to promote low-carbon development and the preservation of this region’s natural treasures. The Embassy is also working towards becoming carbon neutral by 2011.
• Promoting British events, such as the London 2012 Olympics and England’s bid for the 2018 FIFA Football World Cup.
