The British Embassy in Guatemala City represents the British Government and people in all aspects of relations with Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
The Embassy consists of 5 diplomatic, plus 18 locally-based staff. The Embassy is made up of 4 sections. You can find out more about what each section does, and contact details by visiting the relevant pages.
Political
Political Section deals with government to government relations. They are responsible for keeping the British Government informed about events in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. They do so by maintaining contacts with a wide range of opinion from all sectors of society. They also manage the Embassy’s development and co-operation project funds. Visa/Consular
Visa and Consular Section offers practical advice, help and support to the approximately 16,000 British nationals who travel to Guatemala every year as well as the 500+ resident British community. They issue temporary and emergency passports, register births and deaths, assist Britons who have fallen ill or been the victim of a crime. They also assist British nationals in El Salvador and Honduras through our Honorary Consuls based in San Salvador, Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. Press and Public Affairs
Press and Public Affairs Section is the first point of enquiry for those wishing to learn more about the UK. The Section is responsible for relations with the media, including the promotion of the FCO’s strategic priorities. They also handle requests for interviews and distribute press releases. Management Section
Management Section provides the administrative and financial support that enables all other Sections to carry out their responsibilities.
