Climate change

Climate change is a serious global threat to the environment and to the global economy. Diverse studies set out that the costs of doing nothing could be enormous. According with the Stern Review (check link on the right) dealing with the consequences of climate change – after it’s happened - will cost between five and twenty times as much as acting now to stop it. For a developing nation like Guatemala with coastlines on both the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans the risks are stark:

• Rising sea levels
• Diminishing forests and biodiversity
• Loss of arable land
• Widespread shortage of water and affordable food

All will lead to increased hardship for the Guatemalan people.
